What information do we collect?
We collect personal information needed to assess and arrange your loan. This typically includes your name, contact details, date of birth, employment and income details, assets and liabilities, expenses, identity documents, and details of the property involved. We collect only what is reasonably necessary for our services.
How do we collect it?
We usually collect information directly from you, through our website forms, by phone, by email, or in person at our Osborne Park office. With your consent we may also collect information from lenders, credit reporting bodies, your employer, your accountant, or other parties involved in your loan, such as a real estate agent or conveyancer.
Why do we collect it?
We use your information to provide credit assistance: to assess your needs, compare loans across our lender panel, prepare and lodge your application, manage settlement, and meet our legal and compliance obligations. We may also use it to contact you about your loan, to review your rate over time, and, where you have agreed, to send you relevant updates.
| Information | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Contact details | To respond to your enquiry and manage your loan |
| Financial details | To assess suitability and capacity to repay |
| Identity documents | To verify your identity as required by law |
| Property details | To match you to the right loan and lender |
Who do we share it with?
We never sell your personal information. We share it only as needed to arrange your loan, with lenders on our panel, credit reporting bodies, our aggregator, mortgage insurers, valuers, and our software providers, and where the law requires it. Any provider that handles your data on our behalf is bound to protect it. [TBC: aggregator and key service-provider names.]
Credit reporting
To arrange your loan we may disclose information to, and obtain a credit report from, credit reporting bodies. This may include your repayment history and credit enquiries. You can ask the credit reporting body for its policy on managing credit-related information, and you can request that it not use your information for direct marketing or pre-screening.
How do we keep your information safe?
We store your information securely, in electronic and where relevant physical form, and take reasonable steps to protect it from misuse, loss, and unauthorised access. We restrict access to staff who need it, and we keep your records only for as long as the law requires or our services need, after which we securely destroy or de-identify them.
Do we send information overseas?
Some of our service providers may store data on servers located outside Australia. Where this happens, we take reasonable steps to ensure your information is handled consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles. [TBC: confirm overseas storage locations used by current software providers.]
Cookies and our website
Our website uses cookies and similar tools to understand how visitors use the site and to improve it. You can disable cookies in your browser, though some features may not work as well. We do not use them to identify you personally unless you submit a form with your details.
How can I access or correct my information?
You can ask us for a copy of the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct anything that is wrong or out of date. Contact us on (08) 9201 8570 or [email protected]. We will respond within a reasonable time and will not charge you to make a request.
How do I make a privacy complaint?
If you believe we have mishandled your information, please contact us first so we can investigate and respond. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) on 1300 363 992 or at oaic.gov.au.
